SOMOS HOTEL POLICIES

Welcome to House of Somos. The following policies exist to keep our house safe, comfortable and respectful for every guest, our team and our neighbors. By booking or checking in, all guests agree to observe them.

1. ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

Check-in is from 3:00 pm. Guests arriving earlier are welcome to leave their luggage in our secure storage and enjoy the facilities of the house until their room or bed is ready.

Check-out is at 11:00 am, as rooms are prepared for arriving guests. Late check-out may be arranged on request, subject to availability and an additional fee. A USD 50 fee will be charged for any room or bed not vacated by 11:00 am without prior approval.

2. ROOM & BED ALLOCATION

Rooms and beds are assigned by our reception team. Any change, including exchanging beds with another guest, must be requested at reception in advance and is subject to availability.

3. GUEST CONDUCT & QUIET HOURS

The comfort, safety and security of our guests, team and local community come first. Somos reserves the right to refuse service to, or request the departure of, any guest or visitor whose conduct, in the reasonable judgment of our team, compromises that comfort, safety or security. This includes disorderly, intoxicated, abusive or threatening behavior toward guests or staff. Guests asked to leave will not be entitled to a refund.

Quiet hours begin at midnight. Parties, gatherings and music are not permitted after this time.

4. ROOMS & SHARED SPACES

Food, beverages and smoking are not permitted in rooms or dormitories. Food and drinks are welcome in the shared spaces, and we kindly ask that guests leave them as they found them. Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the shared spaces. Guests using the kitchen are expected to clean up after each use.

For tidiness and security, all luggage and personal belongings must be stored in lockers at all times.

Rooms, dormitories and guest areas are reserved for registered guests. Non-registered visitors are not permitted in these spaces.

5. SMOKE-FREE PROPERTY

Somos is a 100% smoke-free property. This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vaping devices, indoors and in all shared spaces. Smoking is permitted only outside the property.

6. ILLEGAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES

Somos maintains a zero-tolerance policy on the possession, use or distribution of illegal controlled substances anywhere on the property. Costa Rican law imposes serious penalties for these offenses. Any guest found in breach of this policy will be asked to leave immediately, without refund, and Somos may notify the relevant authorities.

7. PERSONAL BELONGINGS & LOST PROPERTY

Guests are solely responsible for their personal belongings at all times. Somos accepts no responsibility or liability for any personal property, valuables, cash or documents that are lost, stolen or damaged anywhere on the property. This includes items kept in rooms, dormitories, lockers, luggage storage, vehicles or shared spaces.

Items left behind after check-out are held for 14 days and then donated to charity if unclaimed. Somos accepts no liability for any items left behind.

8. DAMAGE & OUTSTANDING CHARGES

Guests are responsible for any damage to the property, its furnishings or equipment caused during their stay, and will be charged the cost of repair or replacement.

Somos reserves the right to charge the credit card on file for up to 48 hours after check-out for any outstanding balance incurred during the stay. This includes open food and beverage checks, damage to the property, missing items, late check-out and any other unsettled charges.

9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The safety and wellbeing of our guests is our highest priority. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the liability of Somos is limited to the value of the services booked. Somos is liable for personal injury only where caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Somos or its team. Somos accepts no liability for any injury, loss or incident arising from a guest's own actions or negligence, or from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

10. AGE & GUEST IDENTIFICATION

All guests must be 18 years of age or older. A valid passport or government-issued photo ID is required at check-in. Guests are required to wear the Somos wristband provided at check-in for the duration of their stay. It identifies registered guests to our team and confirms that their details are on record.

11. PETS

Pets are not permitted.

Somos reserves the right to amend these policies at any time.
