Heavy Chest

Heavy Chest started in a bedroom. It grew legs, many of them. The project of New Zealand songwriter and producer Andre Smith, it has moved through indie rock and jazz, loose grooves and songs that carry a little weight.

For our first music residency, Andre turned the SOMOS art room into a makeshift recording studio. He came to write, record and play, giving the house a different kind of work in progress. New songs taking shape where paint usually dries. An art room with something worth listening to. He even made a song in Spanish.
