Lucas Beaufort came to painting at twenty-seven, with a skateboarder’s eye and a head full of strange company. His imaginary characters have since wandered across canvases, walls, shoes and cars. He works directly onto the surface, letting loose lines find their balance. Give him something to paint on. He’ll introduce you to the neighbors.

Skateboarding runs deep enough that he made DEVOTED, a documentary about skate magazines and the people behind them. At SOMOS, he explored the beaches, jungle and town before getting to work. Santa Teresa found its way into his characters through color and movement. A different place, drawn into Lucas’ own peculiar world.
