ALEX KNOST - BROWN MICROWAVE TELEVISIONS
Costa Mesa, California
At fourteen, Alex Knost was preparing blanks for Mark Martinson at Robert August. Years later, he pulled battered sixties longboards off a backyard fence and started reshaping what survived. Brown Microwave Television has roots in that willingness to take something apart and see where it leads.
The boards grew out of the equipment Alex actually wanted to ride: compact longboards, discs and single fins with room to move around on. Refinement came through surfing, including trips through Baja with Jack Lynch. Take an unfamiliar outline into a familiar wave. Find another way through it.
