Kris Hall

Hermosa Beach, California

Kris Hall started shaping at sixteen, with Phil Edwards, Dewey Weber and Tyler Hatzikian among his reference points. Add jazz, old cars and Johnny Cash, and you get a feel for where his head is. South Bay surfing with a taste for a well-drawn line.

His boards put that taste to work. The Daily Cup pairs a pulled-in nose with a shape made for deep noserides and committed drop-knee turns. The Jazz Pin has become another calling card. Get your feet moving. There’s a fair bit of board worth using.

A man wearing a sleeveless white shirt, black headphones, and a protective face mask is working intently, possibly shaping or sanding a long white object under a wooden ceiling.
