Ryan Sakal
San Diego, California
Ryan Sakal was shaping his own boards at fourteen. His father, Ed, had already spent years letting him into the process, giving him a say in the boards going under his feet. Competitive surfing and a family shaping bay made for a pretty direct education: make it, ride it, figure it out.
He went on to shape for major labels and work alongside Chris Christenson, while developing his own designs. Fish, twinzers and performance boards all have a place in the rack. The family name is on the stringer. Years of surfing and factory work sit under all that foam dust.
